Dear Joe, My wife and I want to send you our sincere gratitude and a "God Bless you" for helping our son. In the worse situation a parent could face (addiction) you have educated, comforted and made it clear what steps we as supporters musttake. We had looked into several recovery homes but only after meeting you did we feel hope. The fact that we can call you anytime with questions combined with your direct and honest approach convinced us that we had found a strongrecovery home that would not only help our son but would also help our entire family understand and learn to cope with the many avenues of addiction.

When I first arrived at Skip Murphy's sober living house, I sat down with Joe and acting house manager and told them I didnt want to be here and gave them my 30 days notice on the spot. Six months later, I gave Joe my real 30 day notice and left with a job, a place of my own, and a better understanding of myself and a method of living that contributes to society, my family, and my own spiritual, mental, and physical health. Skip Murphy's isn't just a sober house, its a life course on how to live a meaningful, selfless life. The environment of Skip Murphys and the recovery community of Portland provides a powerful support group and gives an oppurtunity to build meaningful relationships with people that are growing and moving forward with there lives. Skip's is the place to go if your serious about wanting to change your life, and a find a solution.

I am a member of the recovery community in Portland. I am impressed with the development of this structured living house that has risen from a vision of helping others. I have heard powerful messages of hope and seen men transition themselves into a life of purpose through living at Skip Murphy's - true testimony of miracles!‎

Over the past five years I have struggled with both alcohol and drug dependency, landing me in many sober homes; none of them we're anything like Skip's. Each time I would stay sober for a small period of time and then end up in the same place, I was never able to hold together any type of sobriety. I proud to say that over a year ago I had become a resident of Skip Murphy's, and have not used since. Skip's is not like other sober houses, it is based on the twelve steps, and one is accountable for their recovery. This is what I loved about this house; it wasn't a place to just stay sober, but rather a place to grow. Skip's provided me with a safe place for me to do the work I needed to in order to get better. Some of the friends I made while living there are people who play a great deal in the success of my recovery today. I am for ever grateful to Joe Riley, the owner of skips, and to the house itself for what my life is like today. The people who live there want a better life are willing to do what it takes to have that spiritual change that I needed to get better. The house's accomidations are very modern and way above par. I recomend this house to anyone who is serious about getting sober. I been out of Skip's for over six months now, and I truly believe that living at Skip's played a huge part in my recovery!!!!!

I was fortunate to have been around at the very beginning of Skip Murphys and the development of the philosophy for this particular sober living for men establishment. It has more than lived up to its promises and goals. Truly a house where one can grow towards a productive, happy, spiritually fit sober life. It also has all the comforts of home and is very conveniently located near downtown Portland.
